kisimi kayleemasa kamara (ALIE KAMARA): the innovator who turned trash into triumph and now eyes traditional leadership for greater impact

Kisimi Kayleemasa Kamara stands tall as one of Sierra Leone’s most visionary innovators—a trailblazer who transformed Makeni’s waste problem into a national model of circular innovation. His journey began in the heart of Rogbaneh Community, where a bold anti-littering campaign sparked a movement powered by the slogans “TRASH IS MONEY” and “PROBLEMS PRESENT OPPORTUNITIES.” From this grassroots momentum, Kisimi built one of the country’s most successful innovation hubs—literally from trash. His work captured the attention and partnership of global giants like the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), European Union (EU), World Bank, UNIDO, GIZ, and Purposeful, each recognizing the power of his community-centered, impact-driven approach.
Now, amid growing calls from his people, Kisimi is setting his sights on a new frontier: the chieftaincy of Bombali Shebora Chiefdom. With deep roots in innovation and guided by insights drawn from cutting-edge AI research, Kisimi discovered that this traditional leadership path does not oppose his mission—it elevates it. Aspiring for chieftaincy not only aligns with his purpose but empowers him to create even deeper, people-focused impact. His ambition is clear: to merge tradition with innovation and redefine what it means to lead in the 21st century.
